The Christian and Missionary Alliance Church of Norwalk first obtained a charter in 1927.  For several years, a small group of people worshiped together in a number of locations, including a store room on Benedict Avenue, the Church of Christ building on Hickory Street, and a house located at the corner of Woodlawn and Bank Streets.

In 1942, the church had the opportunity to lease the old Congregational Church building located at 79 East Main Street.  The church had been built in 1860 for approximately $18,000.00.  In recent years it had been used as a night club, bowling alley, and furniture store before the Lord gave us the opportunity to restore it for His service.

In 1944, through much prayer and sacrificial giving, the Lord made it possible for our congregation to purchase the building for $13,000.00.  the Lord continued to bless our small group, and in 1955 the mortgage was burned.

During the year in 1956 it was necessary to make room for the Sunday School, and we undertook the project of removing the display windows on the front of the building which had been placed there when the was used as a furniture store.  The windows were replaced by the front row that now exists.  At that time, the back rooms of the building were being used for our pastor's living quarters.  The congregation again felt the need to make more satisfactory arrangements, and again with the Lord's leading, a new parsonage was built - a three bedroom, wood and brick house located on Eastwood Drive.  These improvements were subsequently followed by a renovation of the interior of the sanctuary with new pews, carpet, drapes, pulpit furniture, new choir loft and chairs, and remodeling the pastor's study.  The new parsonage and the renovation of the old church building were accomplished with the help of one of our members, Mr. Peter J. Sofios, who was in the construction business.
