- 13 When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his
disciples, "Who do people say the Son of Man is?"
- 14 They replied, "Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and
still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets."

- 15 "But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I
am?"
- 16 Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living
God."
- 17 Jesus replied, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this
was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven. 18 And I
tell you

rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome
it. 19 I will give you the keys
of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in
heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven."

- 21 From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he

- 22 Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. "Never,
Lord!" he said. "This shall never happen to you!"
- 23 Jesus turned and said to Peter, "Get behind me, Satan! You are a
stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the things of God, but

- 24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, "If anyone would come after
me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. 25 For
whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life
for me will find it. 26 What good will it be for a man if

For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father's glory with his

|
- No matter what we are like, once we know him and understand what that
means, we are forever changed.
- 18 And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my
church, . . . it. 19 I will give
you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; . . ."
